Some stories start as a whisper and slowly grow into something you never expected. I’ve been building one of those for a while now — a project that’s become a kind of emotional map for me.
I put together a visual layout to help me see the full shape of it. It’s strange how a story can shift from a single idea into a whole movement of its own.
For anyone else working on something long‑form: how do you keep track of the emotional through‑line? What keeps you connected to the heart of the project?
To avoid going off on a tangent, I tie the plot-line, relationship/emotional & time line together in sync. Climax of each sequence, is structured, so that it tethers the characters moods, alongside story beats. (Unless unresolved/ no emotion involved/ or tragedy.) Characters think, feel & then decide to take action. They do something, for some reason. Each choice they take, has consequences, that drive the plot.
