Hey everyone, I'm Mike. I'm about as new to this industry as one can get. I'd like to have the careers that Aaron Sorkin and Taylor Sheridan have. My feature screenplay is mostly based on my own life, post-army. Think "The Pursuit of Happyness" meets "Walking Tall" (2004 remake). The sequel is mapped out. In the final Act of the sequel, my protagonist is writing/producing a TV Pilot; a pilot I actually have written. Its premise was inspired by the series "New Amsterdam" but focuses on the criminal justice system. Two feature films, and a 5-season TV series.... all connected. Is that enough to stand out? Happy to be here.

Wow, you’re on a roll already! What drew you to wanting to write? Have you always wanted to?

Thanks. I'm not sure I'm on a "roll" per se. I do have ideas and completed projects, but lack steam where I need it. I guess you could say I've been having ideas since I was a young boy. But it wasn't until ~7 years ago that I was interested in making a career of it.
Mike Troy Welcome! A connected universe of two feature films and a five-season TV series built from lived military experience, with a protagonist whose arc mirrors your own journey as a creator, is exactly the kind of ambitious, deeply personal storytelling that cuts through the noise. "The Pursuit of Happyness" meets "Walking Tall" as a comparison tells us immediately what the emotional and commercial stakes are — and that clarity is a genuine asset.

Laura, thanks for the comment. That is perhaps the most encouraging thing I've been told since I began this endeavor. You were also able to better describe my projects than I have been, and I wrote them! Thanks for the link to the free trial month. Funds are on fumes lately, so that helped a lot.
