Post-Production : Avid MC vs. Adobe Premier by Pierce Vaughn

Avid MC vs. Adobe Premier

I've been editing with Avid MC for about 6 years now and despite regular technical frustrations i get, I still love editing with it. I especially like the color correction workflow. I recently had to edit a project with a lot of mixed formats. mov, wmv, vob, avi, a lot of photo animation etc. ..u name it. I was dreading this project because Avid is not the most user friendly when it comes to working with those formats and photo animations and not the fastest...So I had Adobe Premier laying around...And i was so pleasantly surprised by the ease of working with mixed files. I literally just dragged any file i needed in to my project bin, and started editing immediately, easy scaling to HD, de-interlacing, easy photo animation key-framing, easy everything and was fun...the rendering speed to export films was so much faster then using Avid+Sorenson Squeeze. The only thing that i didn't like was the color correction work flow. I still continue using Avid for bigger projects for different reasons, but i can highly recommend giving the latest Adobe Premier a shot, especially if you are using many mixed formats and need to work fast. For higher profile productions it might not be the first choice, but Ive learn about the benefits of these two programs and now use them according to my project.
