I'm Finally Starting Production On "Lepus"

My first short film is just about to start production. Lepus is the story of a man dressed like the Easter bunny who comes to to a small town and goes on a very violent murder spree during Halloween. It's up to the sheriff, dressed as Jesus, to stop him. There is a girl dressed as a chicken who wants to sleep with a farmer, a coroner who wouldn't know a murder if it was happening to him, and a bunch of other odd characters. Did I mention this is a comedy? I got very lucky when putting this short film together. My writing partner, Brian Smith, and I also host a podcast called The Gorram Nerd Hour on Abnormal Entertainment. He also co-hosts another show with a DP named David. Lucky for us David loved the script and wanted to help us make it. With his connections we were able to get the costumes and props for free. All that was left was finding the cast. We intended at first for this to be just friends and family. The problem was we didn't have enough friends and family interested in doing it. So we had to go outside. I turned to Stage32 and found as many local actors as I could and sent them messages asking if they would be interested. Lucky for me quite a few responded favorably and we held auditions in September with a scheduled shooting date that would have started today. Then there was an unwelcome yet pleasant snag, one of our actors was cast in the sequel to The Hunger Games and we had to delay shooting until November. I think that's a small price to pay. The guy is an amazing actor and loves the script. He still wants to be in and is still willing to work for us for free. So production will officially begin the first full week of next month. We will be doing a table read on October 30th with the hopes that we can do our podcast directly after with a few cast members guesting on the show. Man, self promotion is tiring. But while I'm at it I may as well give the web pages if you want to go check the stuff out. http://facebook.com/TheCristosSaga http://facebook.com/RobotVampireProductions and http://facebook.com/TheGorramNerdHour is where you can find the most up to date information on what we're doing. We will be posting some of the table read stuff and behind the scenes from it in about a week. We also have some other projects coming up to look out for. Keep on checking back.
