Producing : One-sheet to producers? Unsolicited? by Guinness Rider

One-sheet to producers? Unsolicited?

Question: Would any producer here accept, or know of a producer / house that would accept, unsolicited material in the form of a one-sheet? Is this done? Taboo? I have a strong one-sheet for a feature idea ready. I'm seeking development (read: scriptwriting) money for the idea. I am not thinking Universal Studios or whatnot, but finding smaller houses or individuals that would be receptive to the potential scale and genre of the project. Or is that the answer right there? Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

For a non completed script from an unknown? Nope. If you have no successfully sold or produced screenplays, then you're pissing in the wind. Finish the screenplay. No one on earth is going to pay a writer with no material to develop anything.

Thanks to both of you for the comments and points. Here in Canada there are certain funds for non-published writers to develop (very strong and commercially viable) storylines; but you need a qualified producer to apply for you. But your comments also shed a lot of light on what you can / cannot do or expect your side of the border; and also, the imperative of getting to work and getting things done. I.E. the screenplay. Thanks! Appreciate it. Time to get to work.
