Has anyone made any films that won awards in any festivals and if so did anything come from the exposure?

Yes, and no, not really. Unless it's a major award (a friend of mine won at Sundance) it's a nice little feather, but don't expect anything to come of it.
yes, more free films. but i'll take any and every opportunity the universe sees fit to grant.
@Mike not use what you mean by "more free films" @ Rachel yes that's been my experience as well I've half dozen awards but at local festivals not at the big boy festivals like Sundance, Chicago or Tribecca or of course Rhode Island which has an Oscar short prize for the winner.
Yes. A short that won several awards lead to money for a feature version. A feature that won several awards lead to getting hired to make another feature. Have any of the half a dozen awards lead to anything for you?
@Rik Carter No, just a lot of compliments some cash prize and offers to collaborate from other filmmakers. You can check the short out in my reel section it's called Blindsided, where did you're short win at?
Stop me if you've heard this one: Two Klingons walk into a Romulan bar.. Oh forget it just watch this: http://tinyurl.com/kmueg9l
couple of films i scored got limited distribution at a festival.
I produced a film that got into SXSW 2012 and won the Audience Buzz Award. That got us extra screenings and then a great review in Indiewire and from there distribution.
