In the screenwriting business, things seem to change quickly, so I go online to try and learn how to keep up to date. Recently, I have found two sites I like, and they are by sold screenwriters. They and their sites are: (1) Scott Myers (http://GoIntoTheStory.blcklst.com/) Myers has had a weekly series for six weeks or so, called "The Business of Screenwriting" and it is very helpful. He writes a ton of other good articles there as well. That's one of my spec screenplay resources. (2) Ashley Scott Meyers (http://www.SellingYourScreenplay.com) Ashley has some very good tips on selling your spec scripts.
Scott's current article compares script sales for 2013 to 2012. They were down but are now up, but still not where they were this time last year.
I've found three great new sites for myself in the past two months -- Stage 32 was one of the three. ;)
Michael, read your profile. Hey, would you mind making a thread and telling us screenwriters here about all your script sales? We would love to hear about them.
Books are so hard. Screenplays can be blown out in a month or two. Very high per cent books made into movies in 2012 and 13. Matbe your on the right track.
