To much of the time when I am casting or coaching actors for an audition the actor seems to concerned with what the casting director want from them and they let the cast tell them step by step and then do their best to be that. Casting really want you to bring something they haven't seen all day... YOU being YOU show us that frist. then take directions of our vision and work it in. It is your audition make it yours. People I am coaching both in person and on Skype are have very high success doing this.
I've always followed the rule of thumb that I present something that looks like what could bring the production money through my unique character portrayal. I have a unique style of character portrayal, and if it seems of value to the casting director, awesome. If not, then we (the production and I) are not a good match.
How do you get auditions?
