Hi, All, I was contacted by the Dept. Chair of Creative Writing regarding my Reds baseball book. The School of Creative Performing Arts is going to adapt my YA baseball story into a musical in which they'll perform for the Cincinnati Public Schools/Cincinnati Archdiocese. They are seeking a mentor (producer/screenwriter) the students can consult to review/advise the musical play the students create from the book. SCPA has its own set/costume designers/actors/singers/dancers/musicians/drama majors/writers. A great project for talented artists willing to help mentor our next rising stars.
I've been mentoring young writers and actors all my life... but I'm in New York...
Loan, Thank you for your reply. You might be interested in spear-heading the NYC musical play project. I created a Yankees book titled The Last At-Bat at Yankee Stadium. It's the story of a twelve-year-old boy from the Bronx who dreams of hitting a home run at old Yankee Stadium before it's torn down. A book editor from Penguin in NYC collaborated with me on the writing of the project. There are a million students in New York City public schools and there are many channels that a play like this could garnish interest. I could send you a copy of the book to review. Then we could talk in more detail and start shopping around in NYC. Fortunately, you have many avenues for a NYC project like this. Let me know your thoughts, Paul
Mentoring students for a few weeks, who are engaged in a project that is already under way is vastly different than spear-heading a whole new project in NYC... here, getting a theatre piece produced would take many months of intense schedule, and that is something that I cannot commit to, since I do have other lucrative offers under way... I'll pass the idea along if I happen to meet someone who might be interested though...
