One of the reasons I enjoy Diablo is because of her forthrightness, and I appreciate knowing that the screenwriter's life will be uneasy and uncomfortable at times and a constant uphill battle. But when you spend years sitting alone, talking aloud to characters in your head, combing over a script a milliion and two times until it's as close to perfect as you can make it, you'd give all the money you have (in my case it can be counted on one hand), to finally hear one "yes." That's why we write.

Great post Richard. The interview is original and shows a different perspective compared to the usual filmmaker type interviews I've read in the past.
