Hey Michelle, I started about eight years ago without a clue. I just began writing. I posted my work on writing site and eventually turned my stories into screenplays. Then I became a Reader for an Agency and began freelance editing and ghostwriting. I went back to school for my MFA and the self published a few novellas.
