I think that both directors and composers on Stage32 will benefit from listening to this letter (starts about 2 minutes into the video). Directors: I hope you will understand how important it is to have original score for your productions. Composers: I hope you will understand how important your contribution is to the director. Thanks for sharing, Eric. Although everything I read online says to wait until post to worry about the music for a film, I've already started putting ideas together in my head for what I want in my film. After hearing that letter, I think I made a good decision to get a composer involved early to help mold the scenes.
Tim, this is a great comment. I think you will find the "new" model for directors is to involve the composer at earlier stages. This is something I have learned directly from Hans Zimmer. Good luck on your film project and let me know if I can help you in any way.
Stage 32 is very much an experiment for me. My usual source of work as a composer/producer is my telephone! It rings! But this is fundementaly UK/European based work. The only possible advantage stage 32 may provide for me is the ability to showcase my productions across the big pond and into the window of dreams..... the good old US of A!!
