Being part of a creative community is important. Writing is rather new for me, although my published book ("Sweat: A Practical Plan for Keeping Your Heart Intact While Loving and Addict") has been available for about 2 years. When I wrote it I imagined screen, with events that took place in Mexico, Paris, a California Sweat Lodge, and my home, Sunny Florida ravaged by 3 hurricanes. Anyway all true but,I think creative too. My book took me to the next level of producing my radio show. I am just finishing up the first half of my second year with no thoughts of stopping. "Addicted to Addicts: Survival 101", a topic/interview weekly show, is produced to support those who love addicts as well as inform the general pubic about topics such as prescription drug abuse, drug reform policy, addiction as a family disease, and the new face of addiction. I keep thinking, there's got to be a movie or at least a tv show in here somewhere! There is a lot in the media about addicts and their trials and tribulations, yet there are many more in the population of those who love addicts and the trials and tribulations are sometimes much more critical and often involve our most fragile citizens, our children.
