I run 2 sites, Speaker Sponsor and Indie Sponsor, which are online directories for artists seeking small business sponsorship. I started as a TV sponsorship director and eventually started getting sponsorship for my own productions, the first one being a $60,000 sponsorship for a 6 week run of a play. Now I coach artists who want to use sponsorship to get their own projects financed.
Hello and nice to meet you, Julie. Best wishes for a wonder-filled holiday season and new year.
You too, Valerie. Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year!
Tell me more about your 2 sites? I would love to hear how that works. Merry Christmas

Hi Keith, Sponsorship on a small scale works the same as it does when a large corporation sponsors an athlete or celebrity. It's a marketing partnership. For example, when I got my first big $60,000 sponsorship of the play, the ad agency that sponsored me was from Europe and they wanted to get into the Hollywood market through lots of publicity and a star-studded cast. I hired celebrities to play the leads and got them lots of publicity like they wanted. They also wanted a big celebrity premier party. I delivered everything they asked for and they gave me a check for $60,000. Different companies want different things in return for their money. I recommend artists start out small and learn how sponsorship works before going after the big corporations and much bigger money. Build up a track record first. There are 28 million small businesses out there. The opportunities for artists are HUGE!
Interesting concept, Julie. Thanks for posting. Great to have you here on 32.

How awesome, bravo to you! I am totally looking for sponsorships for my radio show... I have had many stage 32 members on, including Richard "RB" Botto! Would love to chat with you further, and of course you can be on the show too, so I can share what you are doing!

Just checked out http://indiesponsor.com/ and looks cool. I've been doing a lot of research on non-traditional ways to fund films. So now I'm off to click through your site.
