Introduce Yourself : I'm Till. by Till Noever

Till Noever

I'm Till.

No, not Till Eulenspiegel (Google the guy!), but sometimes I think we may be close kin. I'm a writer (novel and screen, as well as technical and educational); producer; cinematographer; photographer; editor; martial artist (traditional Japanese swordcraft); plus a few other things. Labels are a funny thing though. Way I see it, you are what you do, and not what you think you ought to be doing. From that point of view I'm mostly a story-teller, and most of that is done in writing. Next come photography and martial arts. Right now, with a definite lack of paying opportunities, anything to do with film is on the backburner. Grrrr... Day job: tech/copy-writer, editor and occasional trainer. Gotta have a day job if the jobs you'd like to have don't pay the mortgage and the rest of the bills. Living: north of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; on 5.5 acres near Woodford. Passions: my family and story-telling. Don't know how I could stay sane without either. Still trying to figure out why I joined up here, but I'm sure it'll come to me in due time. Anyway, hello y'all! Hope life's good for you.

BTW, everybody. Just want to say this: thanks for the bizarrely-instant network requests the moment I joined up! Hope you're not too disappointed by what you're seeing. Most of you are the better part of a world away as well. Well, it's nice to have a 'network'. Let's see where this goes. The strangest things happen in this life, and usually where and when you don't expect them...

Hi Till. Thanks for the invite to connect. What type of screenplays do you write? And what type of movies do you want to make?

Till Noever

Good questions. I have a collection of over a dozen screenplays lurking on my disk, ranging from a low-budget twisted psycho thriller (already produced in NZ) to a grand scale historical romance (twice made it to the quarterfinals in the Nicholls but never got further). I'm more interested in people than 'high concept' and often have a romance element. "Dating Blind", a low-key rom-com with a Shakespearean air (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrzWj_zjTpY&feature=youtu.be), was produced in NZ for less than $NZ1k; after one day I decided that I just wanted to try and learn how to make a movie. One of my next-to-rewrite tasks is on the first draft of a three-character thriller-romance set in a remote location (originally NZ, but could be OZ), which could be done on a low budget.

Marc Ardent

Sounds like you could shoot that rewrite on the property where you are now?

Till Noever

Not quite, unfortunately! Not enough bush and the road is too close and too noisy. And it will need some stunt work; there are some very physical scenes with serious WHS issues. I also need a river, preferably with a section of high banks for at least two major scenes. The remaining locations I could fake up from a fairly small set. Every time my wife and I go somewhere for a walk in the bush or even around parks etc. around the Sunshine Coast, I keep an eye out for locations. So far, nothing immediately suitable has shown its face.
