What started as a short story has turned into a full scale development. While I was waiting the six months for ANALOG magazine to decide whether or not to publish my short story, I decided to write a screenplay. However, since I hated writing screenplays, I decided to, instead, produce a promotional video with stills, music and dialog, with pseudo credits. I was so happy with the results, I decided to directly approach the few female actors who met the physical requirements (Chinese, desirable and who spoke both English and Mandarin). I actually got to two of them before I became aware of the Microsoft Screenplay Template, which makes writing a screenplay a snap. Meanwhile I had also created videos of the Business Plan, Talent Plan and a short documentary on the advanced technology (magnetic levitation [maglev]) I was showcasing. Then, my technical adviser, Dr. Zhang Yaoping, wrote a Chinese Translation of the "Tubular Romance" Screenplay. Realizing I had a pretty thorough and impressive development package, I contacted the agent for Celina Jade ("Shado" on the CW series "Arrow). Celina's agent, at first, reluctantly agreed. But, once he saw my development package, he immediately contacted Celina. Celina the committed to do "Tubular Romance," provided I could find the funding. Well, while struggling to find funding, I decided to recruit talent via the LinkedIn network and gained the interest of some 300 media professionals throughout the world. I now have tentative commitments from two directors, a director of photography, five composers(!) and several score of production crew members, extras, etc. to present to investors. While the "advanced technology" elements of "Tubular Romance" actually exist, at the design stage, designs for the facilities and vehicle amenities were not practical or efficient. So, I designed facilities and amenities. Now I have two video game developers competing to do storyboards or photo-realistic CGI of the facilities, equipment and vehicle amenities. Nonetheless, except for The Happy Writer webinars, I have been unable to get a single producer to view my work. Tonight, I am going to change that, as I pitch Jared Iacino. I will keep you posted as to my success. By the way, in addition to speaking fluent English, Mandarin and Catonese, Celina Jade is also an incredible singer. You should really check her out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65MAdg2H5u4

The telephone "pitch session" with Jared Iacino went extremely well. Jared went so far as to say I am an "exceptional businessman." Whether or not this translates into a sale is a different story.
Best wishes on your project. Seems like you've done tons of work on this.

Thank you, Lu. I have spent roughly 1,000 hours on it, since it began as a short story. However, I am having the time of my life, so it does not seem like work. Since I posted, I now have the screenplay in the hands of actor Justin Chambers ("Grey's Anatomy) and producer Luc Besson ("Le Femme Nikita," "Leon: The Professional," "The Big Blue," "The Fifth Element," "The Messenger," "District B13," "Taken" and "Lockout"). So, I am hopeful, "Tubular Romance" will become a reality. Oh, you might also find this article interesting. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/business/2014-05/08/content_17493399.htm
