Introduce Yourself : Character actress from the starting gate by Rebecca Hoodwin

Character actress from the starting gate

Hi. I have been enjoying Stage 32 for the past year. Thought it about time to say an official hello. When I was in school, many moons ago, I was told that when I got into the professional world I would be able to play roles closer to my age (I played all of the character/'adult' roles). The first thing I got cast in was as Harvey Korman's mother in a production of LITTLE ME. I was 21. It became abundantly clear that (except for Guenevere and a few other exceptions) I was not going to be the ingénue. I have to say that it has been and continues to be a fabulous journey playing some of the most fun ladies ever written. I make my home in NYC and it is a great town, though I have enjoyed time in Chicago, LA, and what I often refer to as my second home - Atlanta. Cheers to Stage 32 for gathering so many of us together in support of each other and this business. I created a new Web site this past year - as mine was lovely but ancient. It is now (as ever) a work in progress. I hope to be able to recommend folks from Stage 32 for projects that I hear of, and hope to get a few recs at my end. Here's to keeping our journeys alive and well. http://rebeccahoodwin.com
