Introduce Yourself : Actor and experienced Aviator seeks new Screen adventures ..... by Zaff Malik

Hi everyone, I have been a member for about a year. I welcome all the newcomers and say hello to all existing members and fellow artists. I am an up and coming Actor. I have been doing this for two years now alongside my day job. In that short time I have trained part time at an Acting school in the evenings and in every spare moment I have had whilst trying to hold down my office job and looking after the needs and wants of my three young children. I have gained much experience in a short time and have TV, Short Film, Corporate, Stills and Commercials experience. This is a very different industry to what I was used to previously, in the corporate World. I led a very controlled life, this was handed down by my parents, culture and became something I was forced to follow. But inside me was a burning desire to perform and to use my natural ability and creative mind. I only got to express this at school in plays. I became very goal orientated after leaving my lone parent (my father died of cancer while I was a young teenager) and graduating from University. This determination and goal focused mindset helped me achieve many goals in life like my motorcycle licence, learn to race on race tracks, pilots licence (do aerobatics and gain an instrument rating) and is now pushing me on to learn as much as I can each day, each week about acting. It is tough with a family in tow and to provide for them, but this path is the one for me now. I love being immersed into another World of a different character and I want too continue to achieve, to better myself. It is a long road and I have had many set backs, auditions that have gone wrong, feelings at the start, of humiliation, defeat. I have often thought of giving up when it has got really tough and too much to be able to juggle everything, but after a few days I pick myself up and carry on, with a renewed energy and enthusiasm. I don't want fame, I just want to walk away from each performance on set with a feeling that, I put everything into it from all I had learnt so far and that I had showed viewers something new, for them to believe in me. I hope one day I will be able to win Best Actor categories in film awards and festivals. My goal for this year is to work in a good Feature Film as a lead or supporting actor and to get more TV roles. Eventually being featured onscreen at nationwide/Worldwide cinemas and in leading TV series are future goals. I am waiting for this material to be released before I can add it to to my showreel. My showreel contains material from almost one and half years ago which is dated and not up to my current standard. I have bases near London and the East Midlands so can cover a good stretch of the country for projects. I now have three TV credits, multiple Short film and a few Commercials credits. I have an Agent - Stirling Management and am an Equity and Spotlight member. STOP PRESS ---------------- Last week I got cast to play a Supporting Lead for an episode of a new childrens' TV programme for the BBC. I now have another Short as a supporting lead starting tomorrow. Preparing and learning lines right now. Exciting news, I have been cast for a lead role for a Comedy short that already has interest from Channel 4. I am a pilot also, with 170 hrs on light aircraft and love a skyward journey. I hope to use aviation in one of my films in the future. A World War II story maybe!? To this end I did a WWII stills shoot as an RAF fighter pilot (profile pics). I am writing an article for an online magazine about this shoot and how I may use this a precursor to a WWII film I have an original idea about. I have been to a BBC Writers workshop and am going to put pen to paper and make this into script for a TV episode or a Feature! If you like my work please will you like my Facebook and IMDB pages.
