Ok, the Celtx website has me stumped. It seems to offer 3 variations in Celtx Studio, Celtx Script for OSX and Celtx Plus (or Classic as they also seem to call it). Celtx Studio seems to be online based and either free or the staggered monthly subscription fees. Celtx Script for OSX seems to be a one-off payment for Celtx software on OSX and allows offline editing and syncs with Celtx Studio. Celtx Plus seems to be a one-off payment for Celtx software on OSX/Windows and allows offline editing. Basically, I am confused as to which to buy. I use my MacBook Air as my main tool for writing. I often venture out to the library, coffee shops, even hiking up mountains where I end up writing with no access to any network. That would imply that Celtx Studio would be a no-goer, bar using it as a free online cloud backup for myself in the main (though able to access scripts and edit them too I wanted to). Now, the other two is where I am confused. The Celtx site has nothing much about the differentiation between them and what they do. Even though I use my MacBook mainly, I do sometimes use my Windows desktop PC at home and have an iPad and a Samsung Galaxy S5 as my ultra portable devices. Ideally I want something I could access and edit from all of them with all of the Celtx features for writing and ideally plotting, character development, story boarding etc. I would have thought using the Celtx Studio from my desktop and using the Celtx Script app on my iPad and my Galaxy S5 will allow me to have them three devices syncing up. However, what do I do with my MacBook to allow for offline editing and so on? Anybody able to help as to which Celtx option I would be better of going with?
Download Celtx Studio. They ask for no payment information, you get the Celtx screenwriting software, and you can still use the software after the 15-day trial ends. All that changes is that you can't collaborate online, after the trial expires. You will need a memory stick to port your files from one device to another, or you'll have to email Celtx files to yourself and download them onto each device. I find it easiest to download the Celtx software onto each device, but keep files of work-in-progress on two memory sticks (one working, one backup). That uses less memory on the devices, and makes it easier to switch between them as you work.
I used to use the Classic version of Celtx and manually backup my files. The 'studio' version only seemed beneficial if you were collaborating with another writer.
Molly - download CeltX Script from where? From what I can see there is no option on their website and you have to purchase it through the Mac App Store.

It sure is confusing. Celtx Desktop is the free one I use. I think that's what Molly is referring too. Even reading through their site I can't work out if it's Script, Classic, Desktop or what. But I do have the link to the free download: https://www.celtx.com/desktop.html Memory stick is a good solution. Also consider a free Dropbox account. That keeps files on your computers and online so they stay synchronised. I use Dropbox professionally in my non-writing career and can vouch for it.
Cheers CJ. Glad it's not just me! And I don't use Dropbox for principle reasons, i.e. having a perpretator of war on their board of directors. Instead I use a free OneDrive account. 7GB free and if you use the smartphone app and allow it to sync your photos (whether you have any or not), you get an additional 3GB for free, totalling 10GB free cloud storage.

I recommend going with Final Draft. I personally write using the Final draft 9 version, but have been using it since version 7 came out. It is Industry standard.
Never liked Celtx, it treats you like a child. Agh! I'm Beta testing Screenwriter Pro, operates like Final Pro, only better. Lots of flexability...I'll let you know how it ranks!
