Food props

So good to read this! I need to make something that looks like gravy but contains no fats or oils. Any suggestions? I'm currently using pudding, but the color is off.

Jane Glenn

Can u not just use instant gravy and water If u need it thicker use instant potatos

Alicia Parendo

I can't use anything with fats or oils like real (or instant) gravy. It'll do too much damage to the costumes, which is why I'm using pudding.

Jane Glenn

Ah. I understand So changing the color of the pudding is what needs to happen if the pudding doesn't stain Is it too light or to dark

Alicia Parendo

It looks too much like chocolate. I've tried vanilla and chocolate, not right at all. I've tried caramel and chocolate and it's a little better, but still not quite right. Instant potatoes (as long as there are no fats or oils) with food coloring just might be the answer. Thank you for your responses.

:-) I'll keep thinking on it

The pudding worked well without or staining. A combination of banana and chocolate made the color close enough. Thanks for helping.
