Screenwriting : The Pitch by Erban Martinez

The Pitch

Hey Guys, Anyone out there who can give me advice on writing a 1-2 page pitch. This is the first time I have ever been asked to provide one and people give mixed advice such as reveal ending or end pitch with cliffhanger by not revealing ending. It all gets a bit confusing.

Ingrid Abrams

This is what I've been told: You are mixing up the producer with your audience. The producer is not your audience, you're asking them to go around asking people to put out maybe millions to make your script into a film. Would you give someone the money if you didn't know the ending if you were them? Been told, holding out doesn't entice them to read a 120 pages, it just irritates them.

Danny Manus

Reveal the ending, especially if it's a clincher in your story. In a 1-2 page pitch, you want to set up your main character or two, your antag, the conflict, what they have to accomplish, what the hook is, what the basic major brush strokes of the plot are, the stakes, and I'd mention a couple comparison movies. And most of all - make your voice shine!

Thanks for all the advice guys, really helps :)
