Tracking the current Financial Turmoil for a story

Is anyone tracking the tariff trade wars for a screenplay? The next Big Short? Even with my MBA I am at a loss to explain the thrust and parry of this elective battle. Still the impact on regular folk may make for some very human stories. I am taking notes as I hear pundits, wonks, and small busines...

This might reduce slave labor in certain countries. I believe that might be a secondary goal. Just MHO.

Jon Shallit Reducing slave labor is a worthy goal. Not one that has been mentioned as the rationale for the tariff trade war. Good if it happens, but not likely in the front of mind for those waging t...

In MHO always look for the wonder of unintended results, good and bad. If you want less of something, you don't ever forget the butterfly that flaps its wings in China. That insect's actions can cause a tsunami down the road.

Struggling with the third act of a criminal justice story

I am trying to structure the third Act of my story which is essentially a conspiracy murder feature. In the third act new information comes to light during a trial and proves the innocent of some characters. Thinking about how much I should include to make.it real, but with crisp, sharp writing.

May I inquire as to how the evidence is discovered? If the prosecution is withholding the evidence, then the judge could rule a mistrial which would end the proceeding there. If it is an accidental di...

I would agree with Michael. I’ve had to re- structure information disclosures multiple times. Figure out what role you want the info to play and Go with your first best idea and see if it works. If not move on. But you gotta start somewhere.

@Pat Alexander I'm definitely more of a television guy myself but on the films side I love All the President's Men and Primary Colors. On the TV side I'm up for a West Wing, Madam Secretary or The Good Wife rewatch any day

The Dead Zone and Manchurian Candidate are both awesome. My faves have always been Dave and American President!

I am just getting immersed in screenwriting in depth after years of wanting to do so. I read Syd Field’s books before reading Story by Robert McKee. I feel like I got a lot from both, but am curious what other resources new screenwriters have utilized as they started this journey…
