Right now, I'm focusing on launching my debut Children's Literature series—a ten-book project. I’m also trying to create a merchandising company alongside my book series, and I’m currently working on a strategy for both licensing and merchandising. I hope that combining these efforts will enhance the reach and impact of my work. It’s a new venture for me, and I’m eager to see how it develops! The series will be available in both English and Slovenian, which I hope will broaden its reach and cultural impact.
I’ve received some early feedback suggesting that my writing style, characters, and themes might evoke the charm of beloved authors like Tove Jansson, A.A. Milne, Beatrix Potter, and Kenneth Grahame. It's encouraging to hear those comparisons. I hope to continue growing and refining my craft.
I’m incredibly excited about where this journey may lead and would appreciate any advice, collaboration opportunities, or support from the community as I move forward. Thanks so much for your help!

I’m quite certain about self-publishing the Slovenian version for that market, and I’m also strongly leaning towards self-publishing in English as well. That said, I’d love to hear your thoughts and any insights you have from your experiences with both Traditional and Indie publishing. It would be incredibly helpful as I finalize my decision.
Thanks again for reaching out and offering your advice.

Expand commentHi Sarah, In my experience I would suggest Indie publishing, but only with your own publishing company. Set up your OWN small publishing company. It is the way to go. YOU Don't need anyone else's small publishing company. It's easy and cheap to do. This way you would keep ALL profits, including publishing profits. That said, I would also advise Iindie is best road IF you are comfortable with technology and computers, which most young people are. Old folks , not so much. Also keep in mind that with Indie you will have to pay for anything you can't do, and do well, yourself--Like an editor ( a MUST! ). cover designer, formater, etc. Which with Trad, they take car of all that. One of best books on Trad vs. Indie for writers is "Think Like a Publisher. " by Dean Wesly Smith who has had over 200 books published by Trad publishers and has also made a fortune, in recent years, with his own Indie publishing company. And is now a respected instructor in the field. Also, there are many indie publishing support groups on FB. Good Luck & Best, Jed.
Very smart to also focus on merchandising and other ancillary ways to promote and monetize your work S.F. Jesih!

We ask all new members to pay it forward by inviting 5 fellow creatives to the network and by spreading the word of Stage 32 through other social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
