Thanks for sharing this! Josh makes great points, and the people who think he's being a dick just don't get it. It is the worst when someone says they want your honest opinion and then when you give it, they are mad at you for not praising their work as they think you should. Real professionals aren't looking for a pat on the head, they want feedback that will help them improve. If only there was a way to be able to tell when someone approaches you which type of person you're dealing with.

Some anonymous person referred me here and in the last few days I've found Stage 32 very interesting indeed. I come from a major studio AD and screenwriting background, though now that I'm over forty and obsolete in LA, am making movies in Portland, Oregon. Very interested in partnering with producers and agents interested in an experienced director who knows how to work with talent. Two feature projects in development. I had a discussion with a film maker friend of mine on the Sony lot in L.A. last year where we were predicting this inevitabililty. The movie industry will go the way of the record industry. For many of the reasons discussed here, it was bound to happen. The record industry made the same mistakes and had their collective asses handed to them. The power is now in the hands of the artists who create new ways to distribute and promote their product without a big company behind them. The result: better music, better movies, better entertainment that I, for one, feel a little better giving my money to.
