The second was Static. It was an opportunity which I didn't get the chance to exploit. All this time later I am directing a short I wrote and am producing as a calling card to enter in festivals next year. It's nice little psychological drama with a twist. My goal is to secure the financing for a family feature to be shot late next year. Meantime I have a tv series I am developing and an action horror script titled Blur.
Great to meet you, Randy! :-)
I've written my first TV pilot, a comedy, currently in its writing editing stages and hope to produce and film it by 2020.
Best of luck. I just finished a supernatural dram pilot and am polishing my pitch package for a couples meeting at the end of the month. I know what you are going through.
Wow. Awesome Marina Reydler ! Wishing the best moving forward with your creative project. Hope you accomplish what you set out to achieve!
Thank you, guys, so much for the support.. it means the world! Best of luck and fun writing and working on your pieces!
As a professional makeup artist over the past 35 years I am about to make my first big steps into writing having completed the first two episodes of my Supernatural Drama Bad Penny. I am in the process of polishing my pitch package for a couple meetings set up at the end of the month.
I write more dark comedy action material. But always interested in new connections and where they can lead.

It's a great place to come in if you're looking for fresh blood so to speak or if you're fresh blood yourself. We've had some real seasoned professionals hook up with first timers to make magic happen over a couple of beers and would love to extend this to the S32 crowd. No need to shoot a message to me anymore. If you drop in, tell us you're from Stage 32 at the door!
It'll be Oct. 29th!

One thing I've noticed is that even with the ridged rules on structure and formatting, there have still been changes over the years. I thought a thread to discuss them was in order. 1. SOUND The books say that any sound should be capitalized. Such as "the gun went BANG." However, I've been told that this is no longer necessary and most readers prefer not seeing random words capitalized. 2. Camera Instructions Scripts used to have a scattering of camera instructions such as "pull back" or "zoom in". Now that is considered amateurish or old fashioned. 3. ACT Labels Each of the Acts in a story used to be labeled with a "BEGIN ACT I" followed by a "END ACT I". While this is still done, I have been told it is no longer necessary. Like I said, I've only being doing this a few years so I would like to hear from more experienced folks on whether these changes are accurate? Also, what other changes are there out there? How do you feel about them, good or bad? Feel free to mention changes you wish would happen. What formatting or structural changes would you make if you could? And why? Thanks in advance.

I'd love the pride and glory of being a pioneer and introducing my own way of conveying what needs to in order to create that atmosphere, character or pull at emotions. i always consider I've got one chance to make my first impression with each story I bring to life. If it doesn't fly, I'd rather go down on my own terms. It's easy to tell a story that's about the only thing for sure. Lol. I do believe if you throw enough mud at the wall, somes going to stick. Expand commentFormatting your script properly and staying current with industry standards is just part of doing your homework. If you were applying for a new position, you would do your homework about the industry you are applying to. That's all this is. It shows respect and due diligence. Do it because it shows you give a shit.

Expand commentTo my way of thinking, if you break a rule – you will be penalized. If I drive too fast (break a law) – I pay a fine. Should I deviate from the script format rules – my script will be passed over. But there are NO RULES and there is no RULE BOOK. There is however, a traditional set of customary standards that have evolved as the norm. Minor deviations here and there fit within those standards and within those standards; each writer is free to apply an individual writing style. A word to the wise: If you expect me or any other reader to read your script – comply with those well worn traditions. Over and out.

It has given me the opportunity to write and direct my a feature titled Bottom Feeder and starred Tom Siezemore. Wasn't the movie I wanted to make but I got to make a movie and an entertaining one at that. I directed a second Static and have directed some TV. I have written three Out of Kit Make-up FX books Hurt "EM Reel Good, Reel Characters and Reel Tips & Tricks. My way of paying it forward to anyone one who is trying to make a film on a limited budget these will help you realize your vision with solutions to your makeup effects needs. I am working on a few screen plays right now and am looking to do more directing. Have questions about film and TV I probably been there done that.

Hey Randy, nice to meet you! Welcome to Stage32 :) I write modern fantasy scripts, and it sounds like you have a great thing going, if the title is anything to go by!
They always show up! (Bad Pennies.)
