Currently freelance editing fiction novels. 2015 is my year to step up to transition into editing screenplays.

This is a network for you, built by you. Like most things in life, the more you participate, the greater the rewards. We ask all new members to pay it forward by inviting 5 fellow creatives to the network and by spreading the word of Stage 32 through other social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The more creatives, the stronger the network. The stronger the network, the more opportunities.
Thanks for joining the movement and for being a part of this most talented and inspiring community. I very much look forward to your contributions.
Thanks, and have a creative day!
RB

Expand commentThere really isn't a screenplay editor - not in the same way there is a novel editor. Typically in the spec market the writer will submit their screenplay and the producer will option it. Then the rewriting begins. The producer gives notes and asks for changes. If the changes are not up to what is needed the producer will hire another writer. A more apt analogy is a script consultant. If that's what you want to do the best way would be to offer your services for free to build a reputation. How did you get break into novel editing?

Expand commentI started working in the newspaper business in 1972 and was trained for a lot of jobs. Over 25 years, I worked in the printing/publishing industry in a variety of capacities ... all related to writing and fine tuning of words. A few years ago a friend asked if I'd edit his manuscript and I put my knowledge and background to work (after some updating of skills). I currently have a freelance editing business (fiction short stories and novels), but the visuals I see in the writing plays out as a movie in my head and that part intrigues me. Thanks for your input.
A good way to break into script consulting would be very similar. A friend asked you to edit his manuscript and that lead to other work. Find a friend with a screenplay and offer to work on it. Then you can add screenplay editing to your skill set and build from there.
