Expand commentBill , that is a prime example of one of the complicating factors of lower budget film making. The location has requirements beyond the typical 1 million public liability limit. One big mistake film makers make is not having a handle on LOCATION REQUIREMENTS and how much the location requirements can change the premium the insurance will cost. I advise all film makers to ask the location or risk manager to "please forward your insurance requirement so that my insurance agent can advise me of what the cost may be to meet the requirement " BEFORE you lock down the location , and it happens on a very frequent basis. Same thing goes for rented equipment. A film maker may assume he has enough coverage when there are requirements on the contract that were misunderstood by the film maker. I always have a discussion when I am helping a beginning film maker about where they are filming and please ask for the location requirements and forward them to me to look at to try and avoid those last minute scrambles
You're welcome, Douglas!
Thank you Noelle I'm always glad to help film makers better understand production insurance
