It is my only exposure to film that I have had so far. I use a different accent for that character (regional southeastern America) but I don't talk with the same "twang" so to speak. Would it be a bad idea to make a reel from only this show since it is all I have? I'd hate for people seeing it to either think that is the only card I can play or that the character itself is true to what I'm capable of. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I would suggest good lighting or for the mood. Good Mic not the internal one on a camcorder. Use an external mic. Cant afford to spend a couple hundred on cheap equipment? See if you can borrow one and need only buy a mic. Still not in the cards? Trade Content on Clist or the likes. Change your hair clothes. We casting want to see you in different characters. Hence your 1 card pony, as you say.
Thanks for the feedback, guys! Simon, I've actually never seen a reel that used a monologue in it! I'll have to look into that!

You should play to your strength by acting out monologues or some characters that can show your range of acting. Monologues reels are still preferred amongst voice-over artists who are looking for work that I know. You are just adding the visuals.

Your web site looks clean (nice layout and easy to read). It would be great to see examples of your work there. Did I miss them?

That's not the word I'm looking for... regardless... and they charge a fee for "Pro" accounts which include the video and audio. The page is created, but not currently "up and running" so to speak because I haven't cashed out for those features. I do, however, have some vocal clips on my 800Casting account- the link to that is on my "Contact" page. I think I also have a monologue or two (or one) on my Youtube account (link in the top bar on the site) but they're mostly just for goofs. =)

If you were offered a speaking role on a project but there was no pay, would you be willing to work for an IMDb credit and a Taft-Hartley or are you dead set against non-paid projects? Let me hear you.
I think you have to look at the whole picture. Is it a role that you want enough to do it for free? That would be the biggest question in my book. If it's a good role, and it fits within your schedule...
Expand commentI think you have to look at the whole picture. Is it a role that you want enough to do it for free? That would be the biggest question in my book. If it's a good role, and it fits within your schedule, I don't see the problem. Not every production has the funds of a big studio. But again it's on your situation. I've had to pass on some unpaid projects I would have liked to do because of time issues. I bartend to pay the bills, therefore I work most weekends. Unfortunately many projects film on weekends. It's hard to say what will come from any given role, maybe just something extra for your reel, maybe the opportunity to show a different side of your talents than what you are usually looked at.
My self loves the film industry two but its a hard world to survive in and hold ground one has to eat and wages let you do this so pride comes at a price or is it hunger.
Right now at this point in my career I would definitely work for credit as I’m trying to build up my resume. It’s almost like volunteer work always lead to paid employment how I look at it.
