SCREENWRITING WORKSHOP with VALERIE KALFRIN and TERRI LYNN EMERSON All Scriptwriters, whether professionals or beginners should enjoy this Workshop. Valerie Kalfrin is a member of the Florida Film Network and meets bi-monthly with the local group Screenwriters of Tomorrow, where she offers constructive critiques on structure, dialogue, plot and character development. She wrote, edited, produced and directed the short film "The Guardian" (2011) and volunteers with the Sunscreen Film Festival, one of the few film festivals nationwide to be sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Before focusing on screenwriting, she was a journalist for more than a decade, which honed her storytelling skills. She has been honored with more than a half-dozen writing and reporting awards, including two first-place statewide awards from the Florida Press Club while on staff at The Tampa Tribune. Her writing still appears in the Tribune and in the online publication Word and Film, which covers arts and entertainment from a literary perspective. Terri has been writing for over 10 years. She has been coached by one of Hollywood's best screenwriting consultants, Michael Hauge. Recently, she graduated from the Pro Series at ScreenwritingU. Terri specializes in writing comedy, fantasy, action-adventure and sci-fi. Hi everyone, right one Im working on my first short film script that I want to Direct myself. Is there any advice anyone can give me on Directing short films?

I'm an actor with lots of ideas looking to collaborate on screenplays for short films... I have several ideas, treatments, outlines and even the beginnings of scripts and would love to bounce ideas back and forth.

Wish I could help you by taking a part in the short, but am SAG/AFTRA member. If you want to go SAG all it takes is a bit of paperwork, I won 5 of 8 film fests with a short I did with SAG backing and it cost me nothing, It is sure impressive to have the SAG emblem at the end of the film. If you can get SAG endorsement I would be more than happy to do some work on your short for deferred or no payment. I just love to act and have 4 SAG credits, plus 9 independents, all principle roles. All I ask is meals and lodging.
