Jessie McCarey is a stubborn 17-year-old, intelligently-inquisitive, obstinate tomboy, who is more comfortable hunting or roughhousing with her six brothers than doing "woman's work". Fiercely-protective of her ornery brothers, her plan for an exciting future develops when she discovers how the wildcatters gamble for their fortunes in the Osage, (former Indian Territory in Oklahoma). Knowing she'll never be taken seriously, she enlists older brother Ben to front her business. Through persistence, ethics and insightful guidance, McCarey Oil Company flourishes, while Jessie’s personal life careens. Just when the family feels no one will capture her passionate heart, enter Jake Trenton, a crazy flier from the East, who fans the flames even higher. Fate will deal Jessie many twists and turns on her quest for success and happiness.
