Steven Hayet is a New Jersey playwright whose work has been performed from Los Angeles to London and New York to New Zealand. He is currently a Playwright-in-Residence at Roaring Epiphany Production Company, an inclusion theatre company providing opportunities for actors with disabilities.
His Willy Wonka-inspired play EVERLASTING CHOCOLATE THERAPY was selected to open Acadiana Repertory Theatre's Tenth Anniversary Season. His short play DATE WITH DEATH has been performed in 8 countries including at Edinburgh Festival Fringe opening the Big Bite Size Breakfast Show (Shortlist Winner - The Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award.) He has been named a Finalist for Art House Productions INKubator and a Semi-Finalist for the Lanford Wilson New American Play Festival, B-Street Theatre’s New Comedies Festival and Traguna Productions Summer Reading Series.
His short film, KEEP THE MUSIC GOING, written and recorded entirely on Zoom and starring Holly Curran of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, had its world premiere at the Lighthouse International Film Festival (MovieMaker’s 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World 2020). He also co-wrote the screenplay for FRAME OF REFERENCE (Bronze Remi Award for Best Romantic Comedy, Worldfest Houston) which appeared at numerous film festivals including the Golden Door International Film Festival (Nomination, Best Local Film), the Puerto Rico Comic Con Short Film Festival, and the Long Island International Film Expo.
Other scripts include the musical PEGASUS (co-written with Helen Hayes Award Winner Britt Bonney) and short plays PLAYING WITH FIRED (Smith & Kraus's Best Ten-Minute Plays of 2019), TALKING POINTS (City Theatre), & DINOSAUR (Short+Sweet Sydney).
He is a proud graduate of the College of William & Mary and Rutgers University. Member of the Dramatists Guild.
