About Henk

Henk Brugge is a Dutch (international) actor and producer, most recently known for episode 4 (The Museum Of Me) of the Silent Eye series, directed by prestigious British director and film maker Simon Horrocks and 'Surveilled' by Caroline Spence and James Smith of Raya Films, UK. Born in Purmerend, Province of North-Holland, The Netherlands, to Jan Brugge and Marie Brugge-De Vries. Growing up, he felt alien to everything surrounding him. Like his parents to start with, of which he thought lived in a 'different galaxy'. His aunt Bets (born 1923-alive) however, sister of his father, was a gifted violin player. And other members of the not-so-direct Brugge family were musicians, painters, artists. Being a creative and imaginative youngster, Henk wanted to become an actor. At the tender age of 19, he auditioned for the Amsterdam Drama School. And was subsequently rejected. The Maastricht Drama School and The Guildhall School Of Drama in London were to follow to find talent is not always greeted with open arms. Henk later on became a certified beautician and certified skin therapist, with an own practice. And a certified interior designer. He learned how to design a small cupboard with three drawers. In the meantime there was this hammering in his head: 'this is not it-this is not it-this is not it'. The cupboard remained a drawing board design, as he accidentally - or not - participated in a 1990 student's film. Then suddenly things became crystal clear and finally Henk was put back on track. From this moment on, and all through the 1990s, Henk developed himself, took private acting lessons, took singing lessons by veteran teacher Threes Orri (1915-1993), performed. As of 1997 he started his own business, determined to making a living out of acting. Both as an actor in film shorts and series as well as a role-play actor in training and assessment settings. In 2023 his main focus is on acting in film and producing.
