Disturbances while filming ...
I will never forget this cute little bird. As soon as the camera rolled birdie started tweeting. Tweeting loudly and happily. Like it was connected to loudspeakers. The world simply had to know it was there. Not just one tweetie, but endless series of it. High pitched, sharp and pointed. Wasn't going to stop! But we had to. Over again.
Now what?
We decided to chase the little disturbance from the place. But that was too easy. The window was permanently locked. Then we banged on the double-glazed windowd. Didn't scare birdie a bit. In fact, it seemed to enjoy all the attention on this lovely Spring day. The sun was shining, sky was blue and there was no care in the world. It must have thought our handwaving meant encouraging it to sing even some more.
In the middle of the discussion aggressive ideas turned to care and sympathy. Eventhough the Call Sheet was 'wastepaper basket ready', as time ran out, the awareness came this bird must be young and scared to fly. What if it was it's first flight? What if it desperately longed for it's mother. What if it was not singing, but crying for help And its safe nest it grew up in? And worse, what I we chased it away. It would fall straight down to the ugly concrete tiles, a few meters down? To it's premature death maybe. Not maybe. For sure! The production was paused and there was a discussion about 'what to do with birdie'.
Meanwhile, nobody noticed the bird had flown off ...
