Seeking London-Based Collaborators for Screen Adaptation – Most Curious Shop

Hello all,

I’m looking for London-based creative collaborators to help develop and promote my new novel, Most Curious Shop, for screen adaptation.

This story intertwines Victorian London, time travel, class divide, and mystery, following a young Lisson Grove lad whose grandfather’s cupboard is actually a portal connecting 1897 to 2018. The narrative features rich character development, historical detail, and a strong sense of place, perfect for a TV series, limited series, or feature film.

Seeking People With:

  • Screenwriting experience, ideally with book-to-screen adaptation

  • Expertise in late-19th-century London, especially:

    • Turn-of-the-century Cockney slang and speech patterns

    • Working-class London social environments

    • Dialect-accurate dialogue

  • Connections to UK film/TV studios, independent producers, or development teams

  • Experience in:

    • Period drama

    • Fantasy or magical realism

    • Historical fiction

    • Young adult / family adventure genres

  • Producers, consultants, and development editors who can guide:

    • Adaptation strategy

    • Pitch deck creation

    • Series bible development

    • Approach routes to UK production companies

What I’m Looking For:

  • Collaboration on screenplay development

  • Assistance shaping loglines, treatments, and pitch materials

  • Insight into the UK commissioning landscape

  • Authentic integration of Cockney slang and dialect appropriate to the 1890s

  • Introductions to studios, agents, and filmmakers who champion original IP

Why London?

Much of the story is set around Regent’s Park, Lisson Grove, and surrounding working-class districts. Authentic London voice, tone, and language, especially Cockney slang of the era are essential to a faithful adaptation.

If this project interests you—or if you can connect me with the right people—I’d love to hear from you.

Dan Martin Roesch

Hi Trevor,

your project Most Curious Shop immediately caught my attention — the intertwining of Victorian London, time travel, class divide, and mystery feels rich with cinematic potential. The blend of historical detail, personal journey, and magical realism is exactly the kind of storytelling that excites me as both an actor and creative collaborator.

Although my primary profession is acting, I also bring experience in narrative development, worldbuilding, and character-driven adaptation. As a European actor and writer with a deep passion for historical fiction, mythology, and cross-genre stories, I am particularly drawn to the emotional weight and generational depth your concept promises. The tone you describe — a young Lisson Grove lad discovering that his grandfather’s shop is a portal through time — is wonderfully evocative and feels ready for screen expansion.

I would love to explore ways to support the adaptation process, whether through character insight, story shaping, or creative development alongside your team. My background includes work in drama, action, and historical productions; I thrive in projects that mix authenticity with imagination.

If you think my skill set and passion might be of value, I’d appreciate the opportunity to connect.

Warm regards,

Dan Martin Roesch
