That's great news, Richard "RB" Botto! The WGA and SAG-AFTRA gained victories against AI with their new contracts, Europe passed the world’s first law regulating AI, and the American Federation of Musicians got protections from AI in its new contract. We need safeguards in place.

Definitely needs to be guardrails, Maurice Vaughan. What stands out in this suit was how quickly it came to pass. That's a positive on many fronts. A small piece of the whole, if you will. Much more work to do and precedent to be set.

Safeguards - that's good, right and make sense to me. As new technology emerges - which it will continue to do, we need safeguards and leaders in the community to guide the way. Thanks for sharing Richard.

As you said, RB, its a part of the whole and these guardrails needs to be worked towards on so many fronts. Good for George Carlin's daughter for bringing, and winning, this suit!

It really is a great sign that the concerns are being taken seriously and now there will be legal precedent that can allow other cases of this nature to move to a swift solution and not get dragged out.

What about the people who don't have the money to hire lawyers? The non union extras/actors/entertainers? Is it time for state legislatures to be involved? Should we be reaching out to our federal or state representative to make a law regarding the use of AI? What protections does one have if not a member of a union or doesn't have the money like Carlin's family does? Those are the people who will be exploited.

You're partially right Maurice Vaughan The SAG AFTRA contract that was ratified exploits actors. Especially NU. I posted this in the acting lounge several months ago, that the current contract allows the use of an actor's image in perpetuity, placing them in scenes they weren't actually in, and a background actor's image can be copied multiple times. If you are non union, there is nothing you can do about it. Which is why the US Congress needs to make a law.

He was the MAN and still has not been replaced.
