What a Makeup Artist wishes Actors Knew...

Been a minute since I've posted here, but I've been busy with my audition taping service and YouTube channel. In fact, I just started releasing an interview series entitled:

"I Wish Actors Knew..."

I sit down with members of different crew departments, and ask them what veteran actors do right, and what newer actors aren't aware of that will make that crew member's life easier. And believe me, after 20+ years of being in this business, I learned A LOT. So check out the first interview with Beth Pilgreen, a makeup artist AND actor (so she understands both perspectives). The whole video lasts about an hour, but you can skip to relevant chapters if you're pressed for time...

Incredible idea for a video series, Matthew Cornwell! A lot of advice and insight. One thing that stuck out was when Beth Pilgreen talked about looking ahead during makeup. I think it'd waste a lot of time if a makeup artist has to keep stopping when an actor turns their head.

Thanks, Maurice Vaughan! She had so many great nuggets of wisdom. Some of it may seem obvious, but hearing from the MUA's perspective gives me a whole new understanding.

You're welcome, Matthew Cornwell. Fantastic video. I'm gonna share it.

Agreed - this is a fabulous idea for a video series. Great insight for anyone who works on set or aspires to. Sometimes the simplest ideas - actors bringing their own wipes, showing up early, or bringing your own make-up if you have it (like they do on Broadway) - is sage advice. Going to share this, as well, and look forward to watching more.

That's great, Matthew Cornwell! Thanks for sharing!

Leonardo Ramirez thanks for watching. It was risky putting up an hourlong video, but she had so many great nuggets right up until the end!

Thanks, Sam, watching and sharing!

I'm glad you did, Matthew Cornwell. Lots of great info!

This is a fantastic idea for a series Matthew Cornwell I subscribed to your channel and shared the video . I come from the theater so I am used to doing my own makeup. You usually do your own makeup as an extra as well, unless there are "special effects" This is gtk for when one does get that day player role.

Suzanne Bronson thanks for subscribing and sharing! I can't wait to release the rest. We just dropped the 2nd one today where I sit down with a DP. Next one will be a Basecamp PA.
