Besides Kidscreen, Annecy and MIP Jr where are good animation markets to attend?
Kidscreen, and MIP Jr are pricey. and the flight to Annecy is also pricey. Are there any other Animation Markets worth going to that cost $500 or under to attend?
It depends what you are looking to accomplish. Unless you have a completed property, or solid package for a property (proof of concept designs and team) for series or feature, the "markets" aren't going to help much unless you happen to hit it off with a rep or company that wants to partner. However, there are many animation events where you can meet artists and others who can help you get your project in shape. The summit Bob noted is a very small setting compared to most markets and would be a good place to network, there is also Lightbox (happening next weekend) CTN in November, an new one just launched this year called Animaton Y'all (it's in TN).
In general, getting an animated project to "market" is similar to a live-action, but it is not the same. It's a small tight-knit community so the more you immerse yourself in it with industry events (that aren't all about pitching projects) the more you will be equipped to answer the tough questions when your project is ready to go to market. I put together a basic overview about a year ago: Animation guide: https://indd.adobe.com/view/5336b38e-31cf-424d-b194-034c437f59fc
Cyrus Sales an animation market is similar to a film market like American Film Market, MIPCOM, Durban Filmmart, Berlinale etc. It's a convention where buyers and seller meet. So, picture filmmakers, sales agents, distributors etc. are all in one space, looking to negotiate.

it’s still pricey and more of a centralized networking event.
