In Depth Cine recently shared this great video breaking down three different techniques filmmakers can use to shoot handheld footage.
What are your thoughts? Do you use these techniques? Do you have different tips or tricks that you'd like to share with the community?

I've worked with directors and DPs who have used all of these techniques and they're all effective. There is such an intimacy and immediacy with handheld shots. Maintaining high-quality sound while shooting handheld can be a challenge so make sure you have a plan for that as it makes a huge difference.

@Ashley Thanks for the share. Amazing differences depending on how hand held camera is approached.

I really like handheld camera as a cinematic style. Since I'm currently focused on contained location movies, handheld adds a great level of intimacy/presence. I favor either the Easyrig, which allows your DP to shoot long takes and follow the action smoothly; or else handheld at waist level (DP using both hands). I personally prefer this latter height to shoot from rather than shoulder height. I find it's a more interesting angle.
