It's a shame to see it go. I went to Sibelius in 2005 because I started taking lessons from Dave Blumberg and he used it and it was just easier to exchange "paper" that way. Sometimes I think of going to Dorico, but haven't done it yet.

I saw the news today on Dorico’s FB page : network: it’s kind of sad, .. I really didn’t expect this to happen. I’ve been a Sibelius user since version two. Then about 5-6 years ago, I saw Dorico advertised in a Sweetwater magazine sent to the house. I’m like. What’s this? I asked Engela Fullard Sibelius if she knew about it.
She said - yes, some Sibelius programmers are leaving and making something else.
I investigated and made the change since the beginning.
My music notation story.
I think the article said or someone in the feed said the profits aren’t so high between the 3 notation programs. Still, … Finale has been around for so long. Sure hope the transition is good for the strong follower from Finale. I’m able to help some, though time is of the essence for important changes in my life, also.

I am still on SIbelius 7 and the last I heard current version of Sibelius still does not support VST3 - am I wrong? I will not upgrade without VST3 support. I have all this Native Instrument Kontakt stuff but it requires VST3. Last time I tried I hacked into VST3 and my VST2 instruments stopped working.
I'll hang in there as long as I don't get some paying gigs that need the unused VST3 stuff. If we go into 2025 with no VST3 support, I am seriously considering moving to Dorico if it can support both VST2 and VST3 together.

John Barron texted me about the upgrade price to v. 5 - before the rate went up again a few months ago. Ha ha … nice to know some of the people at Steinway. I didn’t know v5 would work on the Intel chip I had in the 2020 iMac. Most of the marketing text I saw was it ran on the new M chip. More good things to know about version 5. I would do some more research, Linwood Bell - before upgrading. Hope this information helps some decisions this year.

Kerry - I know about dorico vst3 support - the question is whether I can use the newer VST3 samples I have with Kontakt 7 along with Native Instrument Komplete 13 and some of my older samples which I use under VST2 both at he same time. I want to pick and chose from both sets and combine them together.

Kerry Kennard There is no problem at all. Just showing that I’m moving from Sibelius. Everything is up and running and I look forward to diving into the program once I put a couple things to bed. Probably week after next.
