Kerry Kennard I had the Montage in the desk at first. It’s 88 key and weighted and plays great. After a couple days I swapped it out and put the Jupiter X in there and I like it much better. I like having the Montage off to the left on its own stand and not being distracted by the computer screen while I’m playing it. Just hit the 3 and go. It’s also nice having the synth action in front of me for things like those moogs in the desk. It’s a nice collection of synths to work with.

I had a fun encounter a couple weeks ago. I’m walking to the mailbox and my neighbor calls out to me to come over and meet his niece who was visiting from Poland. She was a young 20 year old college student there and she told me that she also sings in a wedding band there. I told her to come over to the house and let’s record a tune together while she was here. Told her there’s a good chance the we will never meet again, but we can create something we’ll always have; a memory. We talked tunes that she knew from the gig and decided on this. I had her track to just a rhythm section I played and then the next day I wrote “the stuff”. Enjoy….

@Kerry Kennard That's a nice workspace, too. We're lucky to have them and to be able to do so much right from home. You can order from Buso online. They were supper easy to work with and even though they are in the Netherlands communication was always on time and readily available. The build quality is very good.

Ah, you have the panels in the corners; hmm really help with the sound of your recording studio ? It's why I Put the furniture in the corner - for a little breakup for the small bedroom area. Do you have a sub-woofer ? I'm looking into one, see how much it helps and separates the bass and sound. Does it depend on what type of music you're producing, also ? I remember reading in one of Sweetwater's pages as how this may help certain genres.

Kerry Kennard Yes, the real traps make a difference. I don't have a sub. Don't really feel the need for it with the S3V's in my room. I think they go down to darn near 30HZ.

I LOVE the new desk, Linwood Bell!

My home office is the room that I spend the most time in, so it's an explosion of my personality. My own personal Ash Cave. This is my desk setup.

When I finish work, I usually stop to eat dinner and then return to write for a while. While writing, I light candles and turn off the overhead light, just keeping my light strands around the windows and shelves so that it's a calmer environment. It helps me transition from work brain to creative brain.

But I'm always running out of book shelf space...

Ashley Renee Smith That's a nice room to sit back and create in. You sound like me. I'm in here all day, grab dinner, take Rosie for a walk, and then I'm back til 8. Then off to Netflix/Hulu; rinse/repeat. We're lucky to still have the bug.

Ashley Renee Smith - what kind of Light Strands or lights ? In this studio room, it's only the Florescent bulbs. Maybe it would help me to be more creative in this space writing music. I know I had a light in the other location, though not strong enough to do everything in. the bigger room. It might be worth investing in reg.lighting for writing music.

For me, they're perfect Kerry Kennard! But I think it depends on how many strands you get and how big of a room it is to suit your preferences.
