The DGA has their minimums. Average rates would be different depending on the experience of the director and the region. An experienced non-Guild director in New York with three or more features finished will charge more than beginning director in Michigan with six short films finished. The Michigan Film Office is in Lancing. You might want to contact them to get in touch with a local UPM who knows the rates in your area.

Anyone not in the guild can negotiate any rate that works for both producer and director. But it probably all comes down to the budget
