I'm excited for Disclosure Day, Geoff Hall! I was hooked at the weather report scene. This looks and feels like a Spielberg movie.

Maurice Vaughan indeed, Maurice. The production quality looks awesome and yes, that weather report scene is fantastic.

It seems more on the philosophical side, almost like "Contact," in a good way. Very curious how he's going to spin it.

Geoff Hall I may be in the minority, but I was bored out of my mind with this topic many years ago... no plans on watching it.

Geoff — fascinating to see Spielberg return to aliens at this point in his career. It’ll be interesting to watch how age, legacy, and hindsight shape the story this time around.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tone of the preview. I can’t make out the narrative quite yet though.

Charmane Wedderburn hi there Charmaine, I was just looking at the shooting style of DD and comparing it to ET and Close Encounters. This new film looks very documentary like and dare I say it, corporate. Not that this puts me off, as the clue is in the title (I think) that it will have a focus on the government disclosing that we are not alone. I'm looking forward to the next trailer dropping.

Matthew Wach intentionally so, I think Matthew. It's going to feel like a long wait, until June comes around!!

Geoff Hall oh, I’ve already lost interest in the movie, for now at least. Hopefully when the official trailer drops it’s MUCH better than whatever that was. Haha

One to very much look forward to.

Geoff — that’s a really sharp observation. I felt that too — the texture looks deliberately restrained, almost procedural, which feels very different from the wonder-forward lens of ET or Close Encounters.
If this is Spielberg exploring disclosure, authority, and institutional response rather than awe, that ‘corporate’ tone actually makes a lot of sense. I’m curious whether the emotional entry point will come later — or if the unease is the point.
Definitely interested to see what the next trailer reveals.

Charmane Wedderburn hi again, I watched Close Encounters recently and was knocked out by the colour palette. It is like sensory overload!
Whereas this feels quite restrained. It does have a sense of wonder though, with the animals appearing around that house. Mmm, interesting!

So excited to watch Disclosure Day! For me, once again, Steven Spielberg shows how cinema helps us understand who we are and even prepare for the future. The way he uses his art to share what he knows with audiences is just extraordinary. And yes, Geoff Hall, I’ll be eager to see it too. Spielberg returning to aliens and UFOs feels like a perfect canvas for him to blend wonder with reflection. His films always spark conversation about humanity as much as they dazzle us with spectacle. Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Geoff - Yes — Close Encounters is almost ecstatic in its use of colour, like awe made visible. This feels much more contained by design. I agree though, those animal moments hint at wonder breaking through the restraint. It’ll be interesting to see whether that tension between control and awe becomes the film’s emotional engine.

Sandra Isabel Correia beautifully put, Sandra - “a perfect canvas for him to blend wonder with reflection.” I love that.

“Thank you, Geoff — I’m glad it resonated. It’s always a pleasure unpacking these things with someone who’s really watching the craft.”

Well, we humans (?) have been interested in angels, aliens, and "others" since forever. See more at cave art, spiritual belief in other-worldly beings, gods as our progenitors, and such. It will be most interesting to see how this 'restraint' as some of you note, plays out and supports the story...or not. I've been in some of the History Channel's "Ancient Aliens" episodes [as a Mythologist] and it's always fascinating to further research the topics. Also, a lot of environmental action is built on the increasing evidence of the inter-connectedness of all life forms on this planet. Looking forward to seeing what you all think of this once we've seen the whole film.

Question -- what is your favorite Alien movie, book, or TV series? I really like "Starman" with Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen. And in books, of course it's gotta be "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. Forego the film with Sam Rockwell as Zaphod Beeblebrox, but do read the book; it's insightful and hilarious.

Pamela Jaye Smith hi Pamela and happy Christmas! My only sadness from this teaser is that it starts with the tired question:
“If you found out we weren’t alone…”
We’ve never been alone! But I suppose that it’s a matter of consciousness. For the materialists, this may be a shocking question, but for those who have a more conscious view of life, the world and the universe, it is perhaps a boring question?
