Hi there, is this chat viewable to the members of this class?
I'm sorry that I can't contribute audio or video. I couldn't get the zoom link to work on my phone, and so I'm zooming from my mac computer & it doesn't have a webcam.

I found a 40K budget top sheet example. https://filmbudgeteers.com/two-film-budget-versions/

Great example, but tough to pull off. $0 scriptwriter, $0 producers, $0 director, $0 editor...yikes.

Great Examples Michael as these Directors also have continued to establish their career after making their low budget flick. And of course there is El Mariachi.

Michael, I interviewed Alex a year ago. Amazing interview touching on his personal opinion and feelings about his work.

A great film to watch for tiny budget is Cosmos. Great quality production based on all the points Michael laid out about limited cast/location/crew.

does this allow paying legal wages?

Jodie, thanks for the budget examples. Only issue is, it must be for a short film. For example, it has $3000 for camera crew. Even if you only paid $300 per day that would only get you 10 days. I haven’t found a DP willing to work that low.

Dana, I know right. I can get that rate by begging my buddies and shooting weekends so as to not take them off higher paying work. I was really wanting to see how Michael Did it.

Michelle, I find mine at local film festivals and competitions. Some young people starting out have a nice camera and want the experience. Some have awards for short films. I just look for who has a nice eye and a look that will work for the film and who works hard and is personable/cooperative. If we can pay more than their day job, or shoot on the weekend that works.
