The Best Way to Give Emerging Talents a Platform to Tell Their Stories

"As a writer coming from a background in Sociology and Engineering, I’ve spent a lot of time analyzing how 'gatekeeping' affects creative industries. We often see the same formulas being repeated, while fresh, diverse voices from all corners of the globe have epic stories that are waiting for the right bridge to reach international audiences and transform them into global films.

In my journey developing 'The King of Iron Fist,' I’ve realized that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. I believe the best way to empower emerging voices is through 'Collaborative Mentorship'—where seasoned pros don't just give advice, but actually open doors for co-production and shared success.

To the Directors and Producers here:

What is the one thing that makes you take a chance on a 'new' writer or a 'new' IP?

How can we, as a community, create a more structured path for stories that break the traditional mold?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on how we can turn this platform into a real launchpad for the next generation of global storytellers. Looking forward to your insights!"

Ibrahim AlBalushi For new IP, it must be exceptionally original and exceptionally marketable. It should also be easy to produce on a lower budget. No one is risking too much on untried talent or IP, that would be unwise. For a new writer, they must produce works that create those exceptional scripts, and that is exceptionally rare.

Ibrahim AlBalushi I am not sure what you mean by "tech brand" so please explain that. Using the published IP is good, so long as it has an established audience. If it doesn't have an established audience, then it tends to show that it is not a marketable idea. My other note is about "world building." There is a very strong trend that encourages creators to engage in deep world building, etc. That's unfortunate because that's not what audiences are drawn to. Audiences are drawn to human stories. We relate to humans, not to environments or items or ideas. Those things add interest and support the human story. So the story must always be central, and the world must be built around that. Think about the original Star Trek, for an example. There is a definite world, but the thing that you watch for is the human story.

Dear Mr. Shadow,

Thank you for your profound insight. I truly value your guidance; as a professional in this field, I consider myself a student of your expertise.

You are absolutely right—the human story is the heartbeat of any successful work. In "The King of Iron Fist," I have used the "World Building" not as a goal, but as a sanctuary for the characters and the audience.

I believe that during difficult times, people seek "Escapism" in fantasy. However, for that escape to be meaningful, it must be rooted in raw human emotions. My protagonist, Jane, isn't just fighting monsters; he is fighting the universal feelings of betrayal, the search for a father’s love, and the struggle to protect what’s left of his family.

I have attempted to weave these human vulnerabilities into this fantastical world so that while the audience marvels at the environment, they truly feel for the person standing within it.

I would be honored to learn from you how to further sharpen these emotional arcs to ensure the story resonates as deeply as the classics you mentioned, like Star Trek.

Looking forward to your mentorship.

Best regards,

Ibrahim Al-Balushi
