The article says the release date kept getting moved, so that might've had something to do with the movie's low box office opening, Sam Sokolow. The article also says, "Comments include, ‘He’s a super-VILLAIN! Why does Sony want to make Spider-man’s rogues gallery good(ish)?!’ and, ‘Here comes Sony’s annual <expletive> of Spider-Man universe movie without Spider-Man.’" And I didn't see a lot of promo for Kraven.

What went wrong? I'll save them some money on this research: no one wanted to see it! (Not every Marvel or DC property is going to attract an audience).

If it was a movie where Kraven was hunting Spider-man through the streets of New York, I would have been there on opening night. But honestly, even as a comic book fan who enjoys the character of Kraven and loves Aaron Taylor Johnson as an actor, I saw the first trailer and rolled my eyes HARD. I’m just not interested in rushing out to see this version of the story in theaters. I don’t want to spend money to sit in a theater and get angry at a strange adaptation that tries to paint the character as a misunderstood anti-hero. I’ll likely get around to watching it for free at home, just like I did for Madame Web. Although that was a few hours of my life that I’ll never get back…
