Building a Local Film Production Team - Seeking Advice and Partnerships

Hello Stage 32 family,

My name is Kevin Osewe, an aspiring filmmaker from Kenya with a deep passion for storytelling and community-based film production.

Over time, I’ve developed several high-concept film projects, but finding the right partners or funding has been challenging. Rather than letting that hold me back, I’ve decided to start small - producing simple, locally grounded stories using the resources available to me. My aim is to build a foundation for a sustainable, homegrown production setup that can grow over time.

I’m currently seeking guidance, collaboration, and possible partnerships from fellow creatives who have experience launching local productions or working with limited budgets.

If you’ve walked this path before, I’d truly value your insights - how you began, what gear or strategies made the biggest difference, and how you built your network or audience from the ground up.

I’m also exploring ways to raise about $5,600 to get basic gear for my initial productions - any advice on fundraising or resource-sharing would mean a lot.

Let’s connect, collaborate, and continue telling meaningful stories from every corner of the world.

Warm regards,

Kevin Osewe.
