Financing / Crowdfunding : I don’t know where to start? by Peter Butler

I don’t know where to start?

Hi guys,

I’ve written a feature film. Alongside this I’ve created a pitch deck and numerous pre-visualisation a samples from the film.

I feel like I now have enough content to start looking for finance but have no idea where to start. I’m based in the UK. I’ve looked at the BFI funding but there seems to be a lot of hurdles to jump through to even stand a chance of getting funded.

Can anyone help get me started on what seems to be a very daunting task.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome Peter Butler there are many Executives here on Stage 32, the key to the lock is to find that one available Executive who has completed a project that is alot like your project, for the the same audience, and made a profit. Use IMDb to do your research to find that one Exec. Good Luck Peter

Hi, Peter Butler. Here are some blogs that could help you find funding: www.stage32.com/blog/tags/financing-85

Thank you Paul and Maurice. I’ll look into both of those suggestions

Hello Peter! Congratulations on taking these steps on getting your project this far. As an EP, I am often approached by projects that aren't fully ready to be financed so if you have that initial meeting with a financier and it's not fully prepared you may get lost in the shuffle. We have certain criteria to meet that makes things on our end a snap if they are lined up before being approached. I just wrote a blog about this that is coming out on Stage 32 on Friday, but you can find it here in the meantime:

Good luck with your project and keep that positive momentum going!

Thank you Keely I’ll check it out now

Great blog post Keely, although I have to say it makes it feel even more overwhelming for me :). Good to have a check list of things I need to do though. Thank you.

Hey Peter, My father taught me that business's fail because they don't focus on the money. Filmmaking is a business. Feel free to check out my website for my answer to your question. Good luck in filmmaking!
