Hi, I'm Chris. I have an 80s-style horror script inspired by a classic children's fairy tale, but this would be a hard R. Think PSYCHO meets THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE with a touch of NIGHT OF THE HUNTER. Any advice or recommendations?

Advice to do what specifically?
Ellis, tried most of your suggestions already (had an agent, entered The Blood List, etc.). I even got favorable coverage from more than a few production companies, but they were not ultimately interested in the project for various reasons: too similar thematically to previous material, too edgy, etc.
Regina, I have so many different feature-length screenplays (one previously optioned) but it seems so hard to land an agent nowadays and easier to get producers or development people to read my material direct (or via my attorney). Frustrated because I keep getting so close, but no cigar. Been at this for 20 years (have 20 scripts; wrote at least one a year).
Hey Christopher, looks like you are doing all the right things. Have you entered the Slamdance and Austin Film Fest screenwriting comps? Could be a good match. Break a leg!!
Hello Christopher, I'd like to read your script, is it possible?
Keep on entering screenplay contests, if you dont even place rewrite then enter again. Don give up. Quitters never win and winners never quit. Carpe dium, seize the day
It sounds pretty cool. I'm curious, is it high budget? Location heavy or light? It sounds like a good film, but it seems like slashers get a little less play today then other horror sub-genres, usually getting made on the lower budget end. Might be a marketing angle if you can claim it's a cheap film to make (easier returns).
We need people who push the boundaries of stage and film. This is where the classics come from.
