Greetings, one and all! - Audio Producer looking to connect!

Hey everyone...what's good?

:-)

I'm Ben, a multi-instrumentalist audio producer from the UK.

I've been in the industry in various guises for some 20+ years (I started young!) and I've done everything from touring, being signed to various record labels releasing various styles of music, owning my recording studio and a lot more!

In recent years I've been fortunate enough to write music for TV and film, only small projects; as well as writing songs for other artists...but they've all been great experiences.

A few years back I branched out from scoring/song-writing into audio restoration and sound design, as well as final-stage mixing and mastering.

I've always loved making noises and I have now reached a level where I feel I can create ANY noise for any scenario, using my know-how, technology and sometimes just some good old household items!

If anyone requires help with ANY audio and sound, regardless of what is needed (scoring, sound design, audio restoration, mixing and master)...please do get in touch!

I am keen to work on more projects with talented and forward-thinking creatives.

Peace!

Hey, Benedict Harris-Hayes! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage32. Nice to meet you! Oh, man, it feels like NO ONE wants to do sound, so you must be really popular! If you'd like to promote your reel, feel free to post it in the Your Stage Lounge: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/promotion

I'd love for you to start a post in the Post-Production Lounge about spreading into restoration and sound design: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/post_production There was a recent blog about a short filmed during COVID and it was interesting to hear that sound mixing in post was one of the few things they reserved a budget for: https://www.stage32.com/blog/How-to-Film-Safely-During-a-Pandemic

Ooo, UK? Would you be interested in participating in the "Paris, Je T'aime" challenge I posted in the Filmmakers Lounge? It's just a fun way to get to know people through their city:

Hi, Karen "Kay" Ross

:-)

Many thanks for the reply and the information.

I will certainly get involved in those lounges, for sure!

:-)

That's a nice observation about that COVID period film you mentioned, in regards to funds being set aside for audio.

In my experience, a lot of filmmakers seem to not reserve funds for audio, or they try to get through it as cheaply as possible... and for me, audio is easily 50% of the experience!

I like to give a great example of the importance of good audio to younger film-makers by sending them two clips of a film, that contain different quality/style of audio.

One example contains perfectly mixed audio and sound design with great music composition that fits the scene, which really augments to the tension and lifts the visual.

The other example is muddy sounding, ill-fitting sound design with a score that is quite frankly, a child's TV show theme music...which for a horror scene is just hilarious and really ruins the attempt of the visual to be scary!

My point in all this to them is that I want to convey that ensuring the audio is perfect for the visual really is half the battle...and thankfully, most of the time, they take my lesson onboard!

:-)

Many thanks again for the info, Karen.

I will get involved in the other lounges now!

All the best,

Ben
