Introduce Yourself : Screenwriter by Gray Duryea

Gray Duryea

Screenwriter

Hello my name is Gray. Born in the late 1900's I grew up loving movies and creating my own toys [made from paper] I was inspired by a list early films like; Star Wars, TMNT, Blade, Hitchhikers Guide... etc. When I was 18 I worked at one o the last Blockbusters Video stores in Texas. Then moved on to work at a comic-book store and started my real writing journey there. I'm here to network with people who want to get something off the ground and be a part of team. I can whip out at least 60 pages of a script or pure researched content in one weekend. I'd love to brainstorm if possible.

Hey, Gray Duryea! Great to meet you, and welcome to the community! Wow, I dig your origin story, sir! I can relate - I once was an Asst. Manager at a Suncoast Video in Virginia LOL! Ooooo, how's life at the comic book store?

I’m sure you’ve already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely reach out on the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) for insight into characters, dialogue, and even when you want to generate interest in a virtual table read!

Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect!

Welcome to the family!

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Gray. How are things with you? What are you currently working on?

Gray Duryea

Have you ever heard of 1993 Robert Townsends "The Meteor Man"???

Maurice Vaughan

I have, Gray Duryea. Are you writing a similar story?

Gray Duryea

Maurice Vaughan I'd consider it more of a reimagination. That can connect to other stories or urban heroes. I'm a fan of the early 90s

A couple days ago I typed out a full story outline, solar system & character list for a Sentai Syfy

I also have a adaptable story for another group of superpowered individuals, Gov Super Soldiers, Meta-Humans including full character arch's based on Halley's comet passing & the solar eclipse that happened in 1986.

* Right now I'm working full steam on a Mystery fantasy thriller series called

"MR. LIE? The Church Of The Broken Machine"

He's a Therapist & everything he says is a lie, but you believe him no matter what. He communicates only through Body Language or rhetorical questioning. A Detective that's unaffected by any change to what he deems as reality. Making him a serious threat to rouge SCP. Together they take down a religious cult that sacrifices young children with special abilities, to unlock the chains of "The Forgotten One."

I marvel at so many talented people, and I feel embarrassed, even because, what could I say, unless I love movies, I love creating stories that can make people run away, or even fulfill their fantasies and desires, I just wrote a fiction script, and I think it might have potential...
